Dvořáček, Vojtěch ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Klimeš, David (referee)
This thesis examines the state of critical journalism (or watchdog journalism) in one local and one regional media in the Benešov region today. The selected media are the district mutation of the Daily newspaper published by VLTAVA LABE MEDIA and the town hall newsletter. Together, these media represent the two most dominant types of regional media in the Czech Republic, which is affected by the phenomenon of news deserts. Critical journalism, in understanding of this thesis, is that whose content accurately and with an emphasis on facts informs about events related to processes in public administration in its broadest sense and at the same time provides sufficient relevant context to allow the reader to understand the described issue comprehensively and in its entirety. The aim of this thesis is to verify the functionality of this journalistic process, which is crucial for the functioning of democratic processes at the local level, through the following research methods: content analysis of samples representing one year of the selected media outlets' editions, semi-structured in-depth interviews with creators of the selected media outlets and a questionnaire survey conducted among their readers.

Kubištová, Dominika ; Jirků, Jan (advisor) ; Nečas, Vlastimil (referee)
This thesis discusses the phenomenon of the so-called "town hall newspaper" across the Pardubice Region during 2020. These journals are classified by relevant literature as hyperlocal media, being produced for a relatively limited group of people, mainly inhabitants of one city and its suburbs. The thesis goal is to describe the work routine of these regional journals during 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread in the Czech Republic. In the practical part, there is a description of the press offices in the four smallest towns and the four largest cities of the Pardubice Region. The thesis explains their choice of topics and sources and describes making an article published in the hyperlocal media. The thesis author gathered these data via triangulation of methods. She had created a content analysis of three particular publications of each newspaper from 2020 that she used to prepare the look of the semi- structured interviews with the "town hall newspaper" office members. The main has been to describe the working routine of these journals in a more detailed way, not just in 2020.

Králová, Veronika ; Hájek, Roman (advisor) ; Karaščáková, Zuzana (referee)
The Bachelor's thesis deals with the view of local journalists on how digitizing has changed their work. The digitizing means introducing digital technology into mass communication. Those technologies go along with journalists from choosing and processing the topic to distributing the product to the readers and that includes operation of the entire editorial staff. The first part explains a phenomenon of local media and digitizing. The local media are a specific type of media, which are based and broadcast only in a certain territory and deals primarily with issues of this area. The second part is a research, during which I conducted interviews with six editors from six different newspaper offices of local newspaper Deník. The interviews related to how the local journalists look on changes and their potential effects and whether they consider the digitization has changed their work. I was also interested if the local journalists perceive the difference between digitization on their work opposed to the work of colleagues in the national media. The respondents claim the major change is in facilitation and acceleration of their work. On the other side the digitalization (particularly the Internet) has brought new challenges, more work and also complicated the sale of newspapers because many readers...
